Core Technology

ActivePure & Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO)

ActivePure technology is the heart of EcoQuest purifiers. A UV-C germicidal lamp shines on a titanium dioxide (TiO2) photocatalytic surface, creating powerful oxidizers — superoxide ions and hydroxyl radicals — that are released into the room.

These oxidizers actively seek out and destroy bacteria, viruses, mold, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) both in the air and on surfaces. Unlike passive filters that wait for pollutants to pass through, ActivePure sends purifying agents throughout the entire space.

This technology is based on the same principles NASA uses for air purification in space. It mimics the natural purification that occurs when sunlight hits the earth's surface.

Germicidal Protection

UV-C Germicidal Light

UV-C light at 254nm wavelength is proven to destroy the DNA and RNA of microorganisms, rendering them unable to reproduce. This is the same technology used in hospitals, water treatment plants, and food processing facilities.

In EcoQuest purifiers, the UV lamp serves a dual purpose: it powers the photocatalytic process (ActivePure) and directly kills microorganisms that pass through the purifier. The UV lamp is safely enclosed inside the unit.

Replacement UV bulbs are readily available and typically last 12-18 months of continuous use.

Positive Ions

Positive hydrogen ions (H+) are generated and released into the room. They attach to airborne particles, neutralizing odors and breaking down volatile organic compounds at the molecular level.

Negative oxygen ions (O2-) attach to airborne particles like dust, pollen, and pet dander, causing them to cluster together and become heavy enough to fall out of the breathing zone.

How It Works

Ozone (O3) is a naturally occurring gas created by lightning and sunlight. EcoQuest purifiers generate controlled amounts of ozone using corona discharge technology. Ozone molecules attach to odor-causing molecules and break them apart at the molecular level.

Safety & Control

All EcoQuest purifiers with ozone feature adjustable output levels and programmable timers. They are CARB certified and meet all safety standards. Ozone-free models are also available for those who prefer zero ozone output.

Particle Filtration

Hospital-Grade HEPA Filtration

Capturing 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns.

Select EcoQuest models (Fresh Air Double Plus, Breeze 2) include true HEPA filtration that captures 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. This includes dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and PM2.5 particulate matter.

Combined with activated carbon filtration, the HEPA system also adsorbs gases, chemicals, and volatile organic compounds. Some models feature washable HEPA filters for long-term cost savings.

While HEPA filtration alone is effective for particles, EcoQuest's multi-technology approach adds active purification that goes beyond what any filter can achieve on its own.
